Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Trying to find old post on mountain bike SS

A while back if I remember correctly some one posted about gear ratios and chain tension on a SS mountain bike. In one reply I believe some one pointed out a web site that contains a database of sorts on certain brand/year/model bikes with x gear ratio and x chain links that gives a good fit without need of a chain tensioner for your old vertical dropout mtb. Does anyone know about this or am I making this whole thing up?

Not exactally but is very useful thanks. No I think this site had actual make and models of bikes and gear ratios that work spot on.
