Any body seen these? They still have the 44x16 set-up, however instead of the bontrager ISIS cranks as seen on the '05 model, they have truvativ Outboard bearing cranks, -(with the ISIS on the left crank arm)...Included, front and back Cane Creek brakes, bontrager select wheels -(with the same 'paired spoke' technology as the '05 model). The same steel frame made from True Temp. OX Platnum tubing, and the same basic paint scheme, only instead of black and white, it is black and chrome-titanium colored. All in all, it looks pretty sweet.

It does look good and I agree that the black and silver thing looks better than the black/cream.

Although I am sad to announce that they did not keep the same frame as last year. The website says it is still the OX Platinum but the 2006 catalogues, which just came in at my shop, say it is "Lemond's Double Butted Chromoly." Whatever that is. I have some interest in the frame so we called them today just to be sure and they said it is NOT the high quality stuff any more. Too bad.

Some other things were changed too, like the geometry and a few other parts. Other than that looks like a great package. Classy yet sporty. Can't wait.

Yikes! ...-So, the '06 frame does not have the "OX Platnium -made in america.." decal on it? I thought I remember it being on the '06 lemond I saw in my LBS, -I'll have to double check now. Yeah, its an expensive tube set...I sure hope they aren't making it out of cheaper grade stuff -and putting that "OX Platnum" sticker on it too. Also, do you know how they changed the geometry on the '06?

I can't say for sure it is not still made in America (I think most of Lemond bikes are). In the photo it has the OS X sticker but that is just a promo photo and the frame must be different from what it is in the pic.

Even though it appears they are using a lesser quality steel I am sure it is still decent stuff. lemond doesn't really seem to use crap so it is probably better than say the surly or something in that range.

As for the geometry, I have not compared the numbers from the two catalogues. I am bringing a new catalogue home this week and will try to remember to post the differences (apologies if I forget). I don't think I trust the info they have on their site right now, it seems to be different than the "06 book.

Yeah...-like I said, I could of sworn I saw the "Platnuim OS X" sticker on the '06 fillmore at my LBS. I'm going there tomorrow, so I'll check on that to be sure. I believe the Lemonds are welded in Taiwan, -using the 'True Temper' - made in the u.s.a. steel...I thnk thats the only way they can price them to be so (relatively) affordable...One of those 'air hardened' steel tube sets like the OS X steel, alone is atleast $200 - before the cost of manufacture -(cutting and welding)

I haven't seen an '06 fillmore come in to the shop yet, but I built up an '06 gary fisher triton the other day... which as far as I can tell is the same true temper OX frameset as the fillmore. The only difference between the two frames is the paint (which is horrible on the Fisher) and a set of rack braze-ons. The triton, in fact, looks like the same exact bike with a different fork and different handlebars. And its msrp is $50 less (just enough to get some new handlebars, if you aren't a fan of the north-road style it comes with).

I though the rumor was that the lemone fillmore was discountinued?

At least that's what I heard sometime last year.

Trek has to clear out Lemond bikes to make room for Armstrong bikes. Just wait.

The cranks are definitely better....I'm guessing also 144 bcd as well....I believe my '05 is 130. The silver panels have a little more edge, but the cream just looks so classic

I've been loving mine. Picked it up as a way to wait out the trails drying out back in MN in the spring and it's turned out to be so much more. It's been great on century rides and now also riding the track. I like mine.

I am glad to hear that someone loves their Fillmore. I have been trying to decide whether or not to get one and am looking for any encouragement. The bike I am riding now (aluminum) is fast and light but if I ride for more than 15 miles or so I am in so much pain. Do you feel the Fillmore would be effective in Chicago traffic even though it is a little more laid back?

I guess I would be picking up the 2006 but I am concerned about a few things such as what appear to be rack braze ons? One thing that I liked about the 2005 that I saw was how simple and classy it looked. Not sure how I feel about it sharing the commuting bike duties of the Gary Fisher frame. Rack mounts on a Lemond just seems weird.

If you're just looking for a commuter the "slack" geometry will probably be better, or why not check this bike out. It has kind of mediocre parts but for a commuter it's pretty badass.

https://www.redlinebicycles.com/adultbikes/925.html

btw, I haven't had any problems negotiating any traffic on my bikes. The Lemond is also my first road bike too. All my other bikes are mtn with bar commuter tossed in for good measure. The Fillmore was a bike so I could keep my legs spinning during trail thaw, but it's turned out to be so much more then I had hoped....but that's not to say I wouldn't have felt the same thing with any other road bike. I also haven't compared the geo specs between the '05's and '06's so I don't know if it's changed much or at all. I was a little worried about clearance issues when I first rode the track, but even at ADT where the banks are 45 degrees I haven't had any problems.....and hoping that continues

Good luck.

I am strongly considering this bike as my first fixed, but I am very interested in the steel. Have any of you found out conclusively weather or not the steel is still True Temper OX on the 06 Fillmore. I don't mind paying the grand, but I really want the good steel. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am almost certain our rep was talking about the fillmore recently and mentioned that it was made with the true temper OX platinum frameset.

What year had a sort of a pewter color with very minimal yellow accents?
That was a beautiful bike.

Thanks for getting back so fast. The lemond site says that its still the true temper XO, but there is an earlier post in this thread that stated that this was incorrect. I hope that you are correct. I will call trek tomorrow to ask for sure, but if anybody who knows reads this before that, I would love to hear from you

Thanks

I can say with 100% certainty the Fisher Triton is TrueTemper OX Platinum, made in the USA, etc. Therefore as I believe the Filmore and Triton share a frame, I imagine the Filmore is OX as well.
