Just bent my fork in the worst bloody way today, while pressing on a fork race as part of a new headset. Well the fork is worth cents on the pound, so it isn't a huge loss.

I am in *serious* need of getting this bike back in working order though, so my questions are:

1) Those of you in Chicago, can you recommend a good bike shop with a good selection of sub-$200 threadless (preferrably) forks. I'm right in downtown. I'm gonna give Marcus a ring asap and see what's up. But he's not open till afternoon and I'd love to have the fork in my hands by noon!

2) General recommendations on sub-$200 forks (carbon would be cool, I suppose!)

icycles has a carbon one for like 50.

it's probably not the best, but i don't really know what that means.

Sub-$200? The world is your oyster. If you can't find a carbon one for that price, you ought to be able to get a steel fork for less than $100 easily, maybe as low as $25.

Marcus should have something (he should have Surly Steamroller forks if you're into steel but he also has a bunch of others as well) but you can also check Upgrade.
