Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Crank Washers

I posted this in the mechanics section but no one had replied and I need an answer now so I can just get them off or look for washers. I took off my crank arms and the bolts...do they have to have washers? mine didn't...should I get some before putting in the bolts or leave them as is.

uhm.... I'm not sure what you mean. Washers between the crank and botom bracket? or between the crank and chain rings? Either way, none of my cranks ha e ever had washers either place.

Or do you mean on the crank arm bolt? there are different kinds of bolts to hold the crank arms on. I think some may use washers.

If yours didn't come with any, you don't need them. Many do not. Some old 80's bikes do have them. You'll be fine either way.
