Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Loose Scruz roll call!

Help me match bikes with people. Post pics, comments, whatever. I got down to Bike Trip to catch the end of the second and all of the third round of One Foot Down, and saw the beginning of the sprints. I had to go home to finish up my conversion! Anyway, some gorgeous bikes. Anyone happen to take any pics?

If that was around 2:30, then it was this guy who tacoe'd his fixed wheel, threw on the geared wheel he rode down with, and continued to compete. A monster of a rider.

Saw a sexy Kalvanika (sp?) that I thought I recognized from here. Bare black aluminum Syntace 'horns, double yellow nylon straps. Pretty sweet.

Ooh! And a gorgeous yellow, decal-free frame with blue Deep-Vs (I think) and a blue anodized Campy crank. Drool.

That Kalavinka belongs to DeMarco of SF. His son's name is Johnny... I had to leave right after the track stands, which were awesome because DeMarco beat some peeps while holding Johnny. It was beautiful--many pics taken. I rode in the race at the beginning with the SF kids and then the four of us from LA broke off from the pack. I was riding a lovely Schwinn Traveler that I just finished... blue sparkly paint with yellow and white decals, Miche hubs, Salsa 48t chainring x 18t Surly cog, gold Izumi chain, Brooks Finesse saddle, Syntace bullhorns with impeccable (let's see how long that lasts!) white bar tape, new 27" Sun rims. YAY! I love my bikey!

One last thing--does anyone have access to the race results? I don't think I did too well because we didn't really try too hard. Just enjoyed the freaking amazing scenery. But it would still be fun to see how we fared. Thanks!!

I dunno. I'm only 16, so I probably wouldn't know...

I'm sorry to have missed the weekend...working on the house...

The rider with the tacoed wheel was my friend and coworker. He also won the track stands and backwards circles and sprints. Drank a beer while in a no-handed, one-foot trackstand.
