Hi all! I want some comments on this one before I decide if I should buy it or not.
$600 Kalavinka frame from a private seller who got it at a swapmeet in Tokyo a couple of days ago. A sticker in red on the seattube says "Mexico 68". Drilled brake holes front/back.
Is this a real Kalavinka or not?

Ok discussion ended quick. Mr Akio Tanabe just emailed me and said he made it 20-25 years ago. It's a real Kalavinka.

haha that is so awesome. Especially since the builder emailed you about it!
It's a really nice score for sure. I have been eyeing Kalavinkas online for a while and when I do build up a bike from scratch they're at the top of my list.

Accoding to the Kalavinka site their track frames can be had for 113925 yen, which is around $930. Is this right?? I'd pay that.

my understanding is that it is illegal to run brakeless on the streets in Japan. Some keirin racers run them on the streets for training, so they order them with brake mounts.

Yes , it is true but people(messengers ride without them ,,SOME do.
