Cheapest place to buy deep-v rims?

I know a lot of people say they are played out, but frankly I like the look and I like the price. I tried searching and i can't find the site that sells the Deep-V's for really cheap. They sell wheelsets i know, but i'm just looking for the hoops. Any help would be appreciated.

PS: For what its worth the site had a black background I think, with like yellow text. Overall i would say the site was pretty sparce on design. Maybe that will help

Lickton's (www.lickbike.com) has any color you like, as long as it's black (and machined). $50 a pop.

BUT you should really buy local and support your LBS, etc etc.

Wow. I'm pretty sure I saw them cheaper than that, maybe not. This site had a whole bunch of Velocity rims for sale. Various colors, machined / not, and several models.

There may very well be cheaper sources. I was used to seeing them for around $70, so $50 seemed like a good deal to me.

Now that's just crazy talk.

If you mean how to take them off, hairdryer to soften the glue and fingernail to finish the job.

not to thread jack, but where have you seen the wheelsets for a good price in all colors? im looking for a set myself.

also, try irocycle.com they only list wheelsets, but they say they can make wheels in any color velocity offers, so i assume they can get just the rim for you.

Bikes: Lots. Mostly steel. Mostly heavy. Mostly geared, and very low, at that.

I've gotta second the LBS comment. Shops, especially at this time of year NEED YOUR MONEY!!! You may not realize, but lots of shops have to lay people off for the winter because they barely keep their doors open. Don't be cheap.

I dunno if we can help that. It's kinda seasonal work.

People don't ride bikes as much. They'd rather pay their heat bills.

I dunno, I figure if you're buying bike parts (the whole point of this thread afterall) you CAN help. Where you send your money makes a difference.

This may matter less to businesscycles, which is in florida. Allthough maybe that one rim sale will help him dig out from wilma...

First of all, the local LBS in my town probably can't order Velocity wheels. Secondly, while I would def. shop there I don't feel so bad about buying something online because the deal I get from my LBS (I race for their team) gives me essentially cost. I'm also considering buying online because I can have them shipped to my parents' house where i will be building the bike and wheels over winter break. Saves room in my Golf which will already be filled with a bunch of crap. Luggage and presents and crap in the hatch, me and my co-driver (Colorado to central Iowa) in the front. My Aussie will be sleeping on the rear bench.

If all of that isn't enough reason to leave me alone, I dunno guys.

Don't forget all the lifeguards laid off in the winter from their beach jobs. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL LIFEGUARD!

You might want to check bensbikes on ebay, they hav deep v's in lots of colors.

But please, for the unfashionable me, whats the dump on deep v's on the street? you are not going so fast as for the aero section to make a bean of difference and then there is the harsh ride and extra flywheel mass.... I don't get it

personally I rock the deep-v's on my mountain bike 'cuz they're about the toughest thing I've found. I can put my 180 pound self, 40 pounds or so of Menard's crap, and a trailer with 300 pounds of plywood and stuff with no problems.

The aero shape, as I understand it, is only beneficial if going for longish distances at speed. For all practical purposes, aero is kinda detrimental to acceleration and most practical street riding.

On the other hand: they've got a nice stiff feel to them, they famous for staying true even on crappy streets, and they come in green.
