Paint + Rain?

Hey all,

As winter is approching and I am waiting for my hub (comes tomorrow) am I starting to think what bike to use for winter. I'm thinking of using my fixed gear conversion for winter. I think that woul dbe best since all the bearings are completely enclosed, unlike my hardtail and cruiser. My question though, is there any effect on the paint if i leave it in the rain for a period of time? I painted it w/ Duplicolor engine enamel and clearcoated it. WIll it jack up the paint? Or will it be fine?

Another question. My clear coat is a little rough, my neightbor said to take 1000 grit sandpaper (wet) to it. Is that the right thing to do?

Thanks guys
Matt

Rain shouldn't bother it unless its still wet. I've done alot of wet riding on my fix and I woldn't ride anything else in the rain. Much better traction control than a freewheel and brakes.

As for the wet sanding, you should be fine just be easy on it.

Rain ain't a problem. Road grime is: it's fine grey filth and it is surprisingly abrasive. Just clean the thing as often as you can bear to.
