Z-kink in my spokes -- what gives???
when i took my bike back from downtown a while ago, after it had its seat and seatpost stolen, i noticed a z-shaped kink on 1 spoke of the rear wheel. i figured that, for some crazy reason, someone had tried to snip the spoke off???
after bringing the bike home, i realized that there was a similar kink on a spoke of the front wheel also!!! that wheel was unsecured.. there is no reason for anyone to try malicious acts on it
then tonight, as i glance over at my mountain bike, i noticed that it had a spoke kink on its rear wheel also!!! wtf!! (the front wheel, however, is normal).
on all 3 wheels, the kink occurs at about midlength of the spoke, and is about 1cm long... i cant imagine any force--compression or tension--that causes a spoke to deform like that. what gives?

Had the same in a set of Suzue Jr's laced with 15GA spokes. Such a cheap ass wheelset I didn't really even bother to fix them... just sorta said "Huh, weird".
