BF MNG: DC & DCC
Well the DC Pirates left my place several hours ago and are probably on the road
home after a day at the track. 3 days after having 11 bikers stay in my apartment
and all thats left is:
1 black sock
1lb of 5 lbs of gummy bears.
1 super big white furry bike seat
19 cans of Sparks
~500 pieces of Hard Candy
1 DC Pirates T-Shirt
1 City Bikes jersey
1 DC Pirate Spoke card
1 eye patch
2 broken bones
There's been some talk about how I broke my arm. Ranging from Dave(Tink) losing control and takin me down while poundin Sparks to Getting the wrong end of the DC Pirate's sword (also in Dave's hand). Well all...IT AIN'T TRUE. The DC Crew & I are were on our way to Manny's via Chicago Ave/Milwaukee when an engine pulled out of the firehouse. I slowed down and drifted right and Dave was checkin on everyone behind us and we collided. We were going pretty slow and if it had been any other crash we would've laughed it off over brunch. And if there's any question of Tinkerbell's biking abilities I can vouch that I only know few who can make it from my place to Skylark that fast and while on Sparks.
Either way if you're going to break your arm I recommend doing it in front of a firehouse. the only better place would be in bay #1 at St Mary of Nazerath. Dave came with me to the hospital and called my friend and stayed with me. I eventually convinced him to go represent at the alleycat and I definitely was touched when the entire DC Pirates tried to insist on coming to visit. Instead they went out there and won DFL!! I couldn't be prouder!
Despite, the arm and the whole hangin' out at District 1 police station the night before I had an absolute blast (Hey I think I might've been the only bf.net-er who was at both the hospital & the police station!). Everything from almost single-handedly destroying the Friday night race (I was getting faster dammit....really) to hangin out at the skylark.
Warning Vicodin induced sappiness ahead.
To: John, Dave "Tinkerbell", Kenton, Tiffany, LBK, Julie, Tiffany/Emily, Peter the Clink, Christophe, Sol, Kevin,
it was a pleasure having you stay over and I will see you all either next Meat n' Greet or when I come out to DC.

Seriously stop by and grab a sixer.
There's no way I can down that stuff. Except I am
curious that Vicodin says I shouldn't have alcohol or caffine.
They never said anything about alcohol AND caffine
PM me,
jeff

Jeff - we hear you're in good spirits (and in Sparks!).
Ouch - me, jrowe and Fugazi Dave are quietly cringing.
Heal well, heal fast!

Jeff,
There are few people in this world that are as genuinly cool as you.
The generosity you showed by opening you home to our craziness,
The stoicism having to relearn the word "pain" every five minutes,
The patience, understanding and love it took to forgive.....
i know that in the months to come, you will look back on this weekend and laugh.
And that as the bones knit and you regain your strength, once again you'll ride.
time heals all wounds, and i supose even guilt.
but no matter how many years pass, there is one thing i will never forget,
and that is your 100% genuine example of how to be a great person.
dude, for everything and more,
thank you.

holy crap! how exactly did you fall? that's a pretty insane break for what you say was a relatively low speed crash!
that's what my first armbreak looked like when i fell off a rope swing and karate chopped the finned trunk of an old american built car/tank.

holy crap! how exactly did you fall?
we were side by side, talking, and loving the beautiful day.
there were 7 or so other riders behind us.
he had a cup of hot coffee in his left hand and was steering with his right.
about a half block up, we see a fire truck pulling out of the bay.
no emergency, but the lights were flashing.
i dropped back to where my front wheel was 1ft off his rear and 1ft to the right
I took a look behind me to see where my people's were at.
as i turned around i saw (too late) that he had slowed down and drifted a little to the right.
our wheels were crossed, and we both fell to our lefts
he never saw it coming.
as he dropped (coffee still in left hand), i imagine he tried to break his fall with his right hand.
instead he broke two bones in his arm, and jacked up the next few months.
like he said, these falls happen, and usually we just get up, shrug and get back on our bikes.
Not this time though.
Anything can happen at any momment.
Our health, our friends, our family, our jobs, lovers, bikes, houses, whatever.. can all be taken away in an instant.
we should be thankfull for what we have no?
moral of the story?: wear you helmets kiddies

oh, jeff....one more thing left over.....a full, unopened bottle of Absolut in your freezer
To chase the vicodin, of course....
naz, you have the rest of the sapphire.
I obviously just decided to leave alcohol all over the city.

Stickerguy, Thank you so much for putting up with us, and esp for trying to find me at district 1.
Today was a big 5 cups of coffee day at work. I'll over night post the cast condom and padded arm sling out to you tues, so it should arrive on Wednesday. hope they would not have to bring the cast up your elbow much. Just wait til you try to eat soup n noodles left handed w chopsticks.
