Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

So, not to be hokie, but i've had virtually no sleep and need to entertain myself somehow.

And hence, I appoint all of us the awards tzar's, and thus begin... (add yours!)

THE UNOFFICIAL BFFG MNG AWARDS

best dressed: Shants. Aw yeah. I think the reason the cops didn't haul his ass away on Friday was that his ass was sporting just some nasty underware.

most unjustified smack talking: dosoner. dude, did you even show up?

most clearly addicted to the interweb and BF: absntr, jrowe, dolface, DC_Emily, FugaziDave, and Judah. Who ran home to post their pic in the middle of the night. Shameless.

best at keeping it awesome: stickerguy.

most outlandish checkpoint requirement: going to the top of the Hancock tower. roll that, and You Lose.

longest travelled: Jitensha, with a bus to Richmond, a bus to DC, then 12+ hours in the car to Chicago. Ouch, man. Ouch.

most hot track bikes in one place: Naz's apartment. oooooh. if only they could have mated.

most random it's-a-small-world experience: the fact that steaktaco and i knew eachother in college and actually worked in the same freaking video store.

Coolest animals: Naz's cats

Best story: Msngr getting hit on the way to the race, and Scott(?) catching the bike mid-air before it hit the ground.

Best excuse for DNF: Julie, for being a good samaritan and helping out the dude who got hit by the car.

Oh yeah, and Naz, **** yo couch!

stickyfoot should get some mention here for coming in third in only his second alleycat --and an out-of-towner, too. *right* behind me (thanks for not sprinting me out).

so, what about the official awards and standings? naz?

Aw, thanks! I didn't have the energy to sprint you out after chasing you down between CP5 and the finish, and anyway I wouldn't have tried since you pretty much guided me through half the race.

Working on them! As soon as I get the manifests or the list, they'll be posted on the website.

Yo Abs!! Where's our results? People need to be able to start bragging. I'll start (jacking this from Val's photos) apparrently you're the best bowler of our group...

Have to give props to JRowe for winning the first game over you by 1 point though.

Hey, I just got my gold star in the mail! Thanks, Chimblysweep! Though, technically, it was my second alleycat. But it's the first one I finished.

Next award I'm hoping for: first fat kid! Sorry, jrowe, you're not eligible, you skinny bastard.

How about second place trackstander?
How long did you last anyway? I heard they let me keep going for a while after the last person before me fell...

I fell during the count down to one-footed (trying to adjust my positioning), so you lasted a few seconds longer than me.

You might have quite a bit of competition for that one.
