straight blade vs. raked fork
I was wondering what the handling feels like between the two. I would imagine that the straight blade would be somewhat tighter than the raked fork. I was hoping that I would win the raffle on Thursday for the jonny cycles frame. If I did I think I would have to get a straight blade fork like this one to complement it.

Am I correct about the handling characteristics of the two styles of forks?
thanks

A straight blade fork has rake but no bend. I have the BikeWorks NYC stright fork and it has a 40mm rake to it.

Yes, straight forks tend to have an angle at the crown. So the front hub ends up at roughly the same place, but the tubing is straight. So the question is, does it make the ride rougher ('cos the fork won't bend as much when you hit a bump)?

Well don't I feel like an a$$... I meant about the bend if that makes it more floppy than the straight blade fork.

there is no difference if the offsets are equal.
straight bladed forks are a manufacturing option
which affords the maker efficiency and productivity.
it's easier to cant two straight blades into, say, a
45mm rake, than it is two rake two singular
blades into matching and parallel sets for a
curved build.

Wow, 2 year old resurrection. These were the good old days where actual framebuilders stopped by to talk and give sound advise.

My point is that dumbasses who search (as this one clearly did) still end up posting dumb ****. And since there's no real difference between a new thread for you to throw a **** fit over and a bumped thread for you to throw a **** fit over, why bother telling them to search?

Dave Moulton dislikes straight blade forks; he sees them as an ugly shortcut for framebuilders. He wrote about 'em in this interesting blog entry:
