Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Sundays at Kissena Velodrome

I heard (read) talk of a Madison training program at the Kissena Velodrome. Are there any plans to get that moving? Have y'all been riding out there?

As for the velodrome "closing"...Ceya is spot on. It's a New York City public park so you can, in theory, ride whenever there has not been a reservation made for private training or events. There are no lights for nighttime riding though. Oh and a helmet, drop bars and fixed gear are technically required. (Although I have literally ridden with a homeless guy riding clockwise, doing S turns up and down the banks on a duct-taped mountain bike...but that's why I love NYC cycling...this sh*t's for EVERYBODY! ) Not too many restrictions other than that. There is a 4' gate you might have to hop, but at least there aren't burnt out Oldsmobiles in the infield anymore.
