IRO deep v wheels
I just found $250 of un-cashed bonds in the bottom of a drawer. Very happy abou this. So, as soon as I deposit them I'm planning on ordering the deluxe IRO wheelset. My question is are there any wheelsets that are alot better than that for $250?

Not for $250.
Ben's Cycles sells Deep Vs with Formula Hubs (basically identical wheelsets) for $200 though.
But IRO has more color options.

Personally, I think it's worth the extra $50 to get them from Tony. From what I understand they're hand-built by Velocity. Also, in the unlikely event that they're less than perfect, he would make things right. I just got the the Deep V's in machined electric red anodized and they are gorgeous, rock solid, and straight as an arrow. For what it's worth, you also support someone who has lent a great deal of support to the cycling community.
I also came across this thread, regarding Ben's :

That is the first negative news I have ever heard about Ben's.
They're my LBS here in Milwaukee and they've given me nothing but exceptional service.
That said, the all black, non-machined Deep Vs Tony has are hard to argue against.
I think the decision should definitely be based on price and color scheme because, despite that old thread, both stores have graet customer service.

I ordered that wheelset from Ben's via ebay. The set offered on ebay was in 28 spoke configuration, and all black except for the machined area of the rim. I wanted a 32 spoke set with silver colored spokes. I called them up on the phone, and they were able to custom make me the desired set that day, and sent them out the next, for the same price of $200. Received them in quick time and have been riding them ever since. No complaints so far. From what I've heard, you can't go wrong with IRO either, but I was able to save $50 for the identical set in a color scheme I wanted.

Pros in this thread... Ben's Cycle is awesome. Probably done about 15 transactions with them and NEVER an issue. Always 2 day Priority Shipping and my stuff always goes out the same day I order. BTW - one of those orders was a wheelset.
Cons... ordering any wheeset through the mail could entail you a trip to your LBS to get them trued. No matter who built them, you never know who's putting them on the bottom of a stack of boxes in the back of a truck.

Oh yeah... no offense to IRO/Tony. I've just not ordered anything from him so I don't have the experience to comment upon.

Yea, that's what I was given when I got my first fixed wheel for freaking $100 fropm breakaway.. and now I know I could get an IRO wheel for that. Rediculous. I'm ordering the iro duluxe set for sure. I forgot about interest on bonds, so I ordered some nitto drops and keirin grips too. That was a real lucky bottom of the droor find.

i should have specified. I know they are 700c. I meant the other dimensions, like the width.

anywhere from 23-28, although I've heard they'll clear even fatter tires
