Scenery of Japnese KEIRIN track

Hi!! KONNICHIWA Keirin fan
I introduce a peculiar machine that is the appearance with Keirin track of Japan.

< Frame load strength testing machine >

This is an inspection done the day before when Keirin race starts.
This machine examines whether the bicycle is fixed to the machine, it applies load to
the pedal(about 120kg), and the crack exists in the frame pipe.
This chance operates according to the oil pressure.

< Steel bar Correction machine >
This machine uses it to correct steel Keirin bar.
Width, reach, and the drop of bar can be accurately bent.
This machine is very expensive.

< Japanese Keirin style Bicycle maintenance stand >
This stand is used to maintain track bike.
It is used a lot in Keirin track of Japan.
When the chain is cleaned, it is convenient because the rear wheel can be turned.
When the chain is oiled, extra oil can be taken by placing toilet paper between the chain and doing.
It's Keirin style
The player who came from foreign countries has felt admiration.

Hereafter, I will show everyone the scenery of Keirin track.
Keirin rider

Tomity - thanks for posting this! Very interesting. Every time I see anything new Keirin-related, I can't wait to make my way to Japan for it!

You know what I find interesting Dave? That you love Keirin stuff but you love all things modern from a frame aspect - carbon, alumimium, etc. Not calling you out or anything, just an interesting observation.

I love Aluminum, carbon, let's not forget titanium! I love modern frames and high tech materials, but I don't necessarily love them MORE than classic Chromo brased/lugged frames. I love em all. Perhaps Dave has the same affliction?

Maybe... though as long as I've known Dave, I don't think I've ever seen him or ridden with him having a lugged frame.

Dave - I'll bug ya again when you come down in November.

I'm not too curious about an aluminium frame or carbon so much as I've ridden both but I am curious about how a ti frame rides.

yeah, those are cool. I could MAKE that stand, but I think I might modify it slightly so it would work with flat bars as well as drops.

I know, I'm all over the place. My personal preferences do indeed run to AL and carbon, welds, aero, etc. That said, in general I still like steel, lugs, etc. What I'm not into at all are really ornate lugs with painted details and things like that. I like cleaner lines than that. You may remember the Marin road frame I rode before my Basso (it's the one I got hit on). It was steel (welded, not lugged), it felt great, I loved it.

As for Keirin, it's more the race format and competition that I dig (and everything around it) than the bikes themselves, though Keirin bikes are sexy, sexy machines. The bikes are also nice and clean, aesthetically-speaking.

I wish that people in this country took track racing that serious.

quick side note, had dc won the olympics a few years back, the velodrome would have been built about 10 miles from my parents house. that makes me want to KILL!!!!

Hi!! DW
The check to recognize the frame of NJS officially is different from this work.
The destruction inspection of the frame will be done.

If you've never tried Ti frame, you should try it once and you'd be pleasantly surprised. I used to ride an aluminum frame before changing to my current Ti frame road bike. I will never go back to Al bike.

BTW, I don't mean to do nitpicking, but your Japanese phrase earlier is not exactly right. It literally means "thank youself." It should read "anatani kansha shimasu."

NJS is Nihon Jitensha Sinkokai
as Japan Bicycle Promotion Institute.

Only parts that adhere the mark of NJS can be used in Keirin race.
