Good for style, bad for your head, offer very little protection in a crash.
See https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...hlight=hairnet and try searching for hairnet.

There is one at Yojimbo's. I don't know whether it's for sale or not, but I invariably pick it up whenever I'm there.
I've been told they are sorta good for keeping your ears from shearing off in certain crashes, but don't count on it.

I think you'll have the same level of protection if you wear 4 beanies at a time.

La Bicicletta here in Toronto has tons of em. They are all black with the Rossin "R" logo on the sides. They do mail order from their website. Not much protection but you will look stylin' when you are on the deck, knocked out.

ok...so maybe these head pads don't offer an ioda of the protection that one of those ugly bulky styrofoam helmets do,
but...
what's this with everyone talklin' bout being knocked out on the deck and comatose and all this business ???
how often do you all USE your helmets and heads when you fall?
I'll prob just continue riding without a helmet, and will continue falling from time to time (mostly at .4 mph speeds) ...not having a helmet makes me NOT opt to use my head as a cushion when I fall
you can still get head/brain damage knocking your head around with a football helmet/motorcycle helmet/figterjet helmet, or anything else strapped to your head...don't get too comfortable just cause you have a space dome on your knot
I'm not saying that a helmet is not a good thing...it is, and I'm sure it comes in handy at the most critical moments...
I try to avoid those tho...
I still think riding my bicycle without a helmet (natty hair bush included) is safter than driving a car...(at least it has been so far)
but...

Wow, way to rationalize style over your own personal safety. Natural selection's going to love you, man.

maybe I just grew up in a different world than you all...where it wasn't blasphemy or suicide or even crazy to ride a bicycle without a helmet
and I never said anything about style...I don't wear a helmet for comfort/convenience/practicality reasons

no one is arguing the merits of riding with helmets. It's just seems a bit vain to not like to wear a helmet, but want to wear a hairnet cuz it looks cool.
I'd rather not wear a helmet than wear the hairnet(eventhough it does look nice) and feel good that I didn't spend 50 bucks to put a completely useless piece of leather on my head. thats all...
