Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

if anything, doesnt that reflect poorly on cyclists? the message i got from it is that cyclists are annoying, opinionated, nerdy, and whiny? the other way to take is the dad's statement as a good opinion, but then its not really funny, or interesting.

I dunno if you can search ucomics.com, but I used to get it daily 10 years expostfacto in my work email, and that's printed out and stuck in my veal fattening pen, from there. In b&w.

You all are graphic designers, can't a graphic edit program suck the color out of it?

I'll bet Calvin's dad would ride a road conversion with two centrepull brakes.

calvin and hobbes is great. that would make a decent sticker--if you could clear copyrights. or do whatever it would take to keep from getting sued.

I've got like enough leftover sticker paper at work to print probably 6000 of those at the original printed size if I had a good scan, and the fastest, biggest laser printer on the planet, but sadly, that's illegal

And FWIW, he's riding a geared MTB. In lycra...

Unfortunatly, when it's been downsized for the net, the resolution when printed is so bad that you wouldn't want to take the time to suck the color out...

check it out: this is a transparent gif so depending on your browser it might look crazy, but this is awesome. i'm not sure if i like it more or less without calvin though. i think the inclusion of calvin in the (sticker) image would raise more awareness as people would feel comfortable with the character. but this is pretty awesome nonetheless.

at second glance i have decided that it does in fact need to include calvin for the full effect. my search continues.

mmmm, lycra. I always thought it was an ss tensioner.

Calvin rides ss though. And he doesn't even need to reach the pedals.

Crashes a lot though. Maybe he read the Puma book in Vice.

i did think it was funny, because calvin thought his dad was nerdy, opinionated and uninteresting.

that's pretty much the way all my non-biker friends feel about me.

They're wrong, of course, but that's just the way they feel.

Still. I want stickers.

wow thanks, that second one is perfect for stickering as far as color and contrast go... i just hope it's big enough. regardless, i'm stealing that, thanks dude. also: the third image is equally as amazing.

i love being stoked on riding my bicycle. it makes me happy.

i like the third one...it's perfect. even with wrecks, drivers harrassing you, accidents with inattentive (or malicious) drivers, all the obvious things that sort of suck...you go out there and keep doing it. and keep loving it. i like that third one a lot.
