thrilla from vanilla

finally received the completed bike from sacha a couple of weeks ago. as expected, it turned out great and is a complete blast to ride. can't say enough good things about working with sacha - it's definitely worth the wait.

i'm running it as a singlespeed right now, but it can be set to fixed easily. set it up with vintage campy cobalto / SR pista components and phil hubs laced to some sweet chrome rims sacha provided. other parts include phil BB, and a cinelli 64 giro bars. he also put together the color palette, and i'm more than pleasd with the outcome.

How can you set it up with cobalto parts and not include a shot of the brake calipers?!

Please remedy this situation.

that bike is my size.

why don't you come drinking with me?

lovely, really it is. a brooks saddle and maybe some cloth tape would set it off well.

here ya go - showing the crown jewels, as it were.

and i am considering a proper brooks saddle, but the aliante is just so comfortable. even if it's not really visually appropriate. and the cloth tape is also a good idea which may happen in the near future. this just got me down the road quickly - i can sort out the full aesthetic issues later.

Yah, is good. How long is the wait for a frame with paint these days?

moondog-sparky 12-12-05 04:02 PM

total time was around 15 months, including paint and complete build. i believe sacha is still quoting 15 months for all bikes, and he makes every effort to stick to that deadline. not to sound like a sycophantic broken record, but the guy is great to work with and really sinks himself into each project. i originally thought of doing the orange/creamsicle paintjob, but he looked at the retro parts and came up with what you see here. i pretty much gave him free reign to develop the colors, and then i gave the final ok sight-unseen.

if you've got the time and $$$, i highly recommend it.
