Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

on wisconsin. and all that.

my lovely steamroller, Sue, and I will be in Milwaukee starting tomorrow evening. We will make a trek to Madison on Friday, and then spend the entire weekend in sunny, warm Milwaukee.

Anyone interested in doing the bikey drinkey thing, lemme know. I have a low tolerance for cold but a superhuman tolerance for alcohol.

Excellent.
Then I'll see what's going on and give you a call. Either tomorrow or Saturday night.

what if we did like a bowling/riding/drinking night in the north ave/riverwest area? we could just plan meetup time and location and whoever can make it can swing by... i'm cool for any night 9pm or later, pretty much.

I don't want to dictate anything, but Thursday would work much better for me.
That said, I'll try and work around whatever plan is made.
Hit up Onopa, Foundation and maybe Landmark?

Friday is better for me, though Saturday and Sunday work for me too. Thursday is OK, but then my brother can't make it, and he'll beat me up for that. it's just not worth it.

Totally understand.
Just wanted to throw it out there.
Friday is probably best - especially with Christmas eve and Christmas and all.

Chimbly -
I just remembered that my good friend is DJing at Mantra Lounge on Friday night.
It's not at all his or our scene - very clubby - but some friends and I are gonna ride over and crash it.
You should include that in your night's plans.
At least for a little bit.

Who's the dj? Some friends of mine play there occasionally.

Diamonds. (http://www.myspace.com/diamonds )
He's never DJ'd there before.
He does spin at the Riverhorse the 3rd Saturday (I think) of every month.
And the Cactus Club from time to time.

Oh, and he is sourasher on the forum.

recommended Madison bars:
Mickey's Tavern ("coolest" bar in terms of people and atmosphere)
Willy St Pub (near east, punk / metal / roller derby friendly)
High Noon Saloon (though there's a crappy show that night)
Paradise Lounge (cheap, punk juke, by the capitol)
Genna's (atmosphere, by capitol)

I'd suggest we hang out if I hadn't recently moved 1800 miles southwest. Still wearing shorts n' t-shirt down here.

yeah, i grew up in thiensvile too (HHS class of 96).

and did my undergrad in Madison (History, class of 99) so i know the bars really all too well. we usually drank at the Paradise, or at the Living Room when it still existed.
