huh? chances are it's an 1/8" cog...get a bmx chain. i dunno what "too long" is implying. that's just goofy.

is it a conversion? if so as xthug…x says it's probably that you have a 3/32 road chain on there and your new cog is 1/8, ie thicker. he probably means by too long that the chain won't sit down on the teeth as it should, but that's because the teeth are too thick, not too long. good news is a 1/8 chain will set you back $10 or so

Miche Cogs are 1/8" road chains are 3/32". This is more or less a succinct rephrasing of what's already been said.

i think what might also be the problem is that he's using an old stretched chain. if his cogs are 3/32 and he has an old worn chain the chain might fit slightly over the teeth but it won't go over them all the way, making it look like the teeth are too long. in other words the teeth fit inside the chain but they don't go through the links all the way.
find out if you have a 3/32 cog or a 1/8. ive been able to find 1/8 bmx chains for as low as 2 bucks! i swear, super cheap, i only use them for the rain. if it's a 3/32 cog you can still use a 1/8 chain cause it's wider and fits both. but 3/32 work best, especialy with not too perfect chainlines. you can get an sram 3/32 chain with a master link pretty cheap
