Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

In honor of Rivet, and others (U Know who U are), I introduce the first BF online rapping cipher.

For those of you unfamiliar, it goes like this...Stand in a virtual circle, and trade lyrics clockwise. Me first.

"Crank That Bottom Bracket"
(Rhymed to the rhythm of 'Laffy Taffy')

I ride a fixed gear bike
You know what I like
Give me that Steel Reserve
with some Vodka spike
We din't need no brakes
Cuz we run through the light
try to steal my bike
you gonna catch a fight

Get loose...Get low
Don't be shy....skid ->go
I put my junk on my stem
it helps me to slow
I rock a front brake
but I still put on a show

*Crank that bottom bracket
That bottom bracket
Crank that bottom bracket
That bottom bracket
Crank that bottom bracket
That bottom bracket
(Campy girl!)

Who's next? Try to keep it clean & bike related.

We got the beat, right? Check it.
Don't ride soft or the cars will rubber-neck it.
Everyone knows the dangers grow
when the traffic be tight and the horns are gonna blow.
Don't believe me, step up for a fight.
I'll flip you the bird then blow through the light.
Dog me some more, get a U through your door,
Cuz my lock be a glock, it's how I settle the score.

Now here we go riding fixies riding them all over
Like riding around the town like when you're riding a De Rosa
Expanding the horizons and expanding the gear ratios
Expanding the rides of damn hipster angelos
Shants, the Pista Boy, Serendipider, gee
Riding hard with no brakes, going slower not for me
Will rocking the bike as many times times the new threads
Will's well to tell dispel all of the troll heads
I've been dropping the troll posts and kicking the new knowledge
A rider, brakeless flyer, that you can't get in college
The hops of the earth and the Sparks that I drink
I've got cards in my posts , not one azz fu##### pink
Shants posting the roasting really bad pics
Got kicked out of the bike Forums you think that he cared
It's the sound of whining

Bonus points if you know what song I'm referencing

The Ballad Of Pistaboy

(as sung by the late Johnny Cash, kinda uptempo ala "Boy named Sue")

Now here's a little story about a boy who rides a Pista

He gave them hipsters more hell than Reagan gave the Sandinistas

He logged himself into his computer, and then began to post

Who knew he would make history with a name that he could boast?

Well it sure wasn't him, the lights were too dim to see into the future

So he proceeded to open up old woulds to fast for us to suture

Eyes began to roll, some of us yelled "troll", none as loud as RVA...

but the boy kept on, his will was strong, yeah he's postin' to this day

Now I know what yer thinkin', I'm just pullin' yer leg, this pistaboy's a fake

Cuz' when not in class, he's bound to ask, "what's the best bike bag they make?"

But fear not friend, we near the end of this long and sordid tale...

And I'd really like to thank that boy, yer check is in the mail

Cuz before he came, things weren't the same, bikeforums hit the slumps

Then that little boy came with a bike that blinged us right up out the dumps

See it all came down when ol'Joe frowned on EnLaCalle and "shants"

He didn't like the way some cussed at bikes, and talk about what's in their pants

But don't you fret, because I'll bet, I've done figured it out already partner.

With all this fuss being caused by us....

Ol' pistaboy's Joe Gardner.
