when i had cable, let alone tv (well, have it, but i've watched maybe 3 hours in six months), those things owned me, and i learned stuff, and it was cool. mythbusters is badass. there was something up here a bit ago about them and a singlespeed. what was it?

Somewhere on your remote control, there's a button marked "power". On mine, it's red and in the upper left corner. Press this button and release. Put on your cycling clothes. Go for a ride.

Of course, I had to give up cable because it was eating my life. After that, the above instructions became much easier.

history channel? i think you are confusing it with the wwii special features channel.

and yes, another point for mythbusters. i continue to watch that show even i have seen the episode three times before. it's like mr wizard of the 21st century. maybe they can bust the myth that riding brakeless is way more street?

Though entertaining, Mythbusters is not quite as scientifically valid as you may have been led to believe. Just saying...

I used to have that problem as well. When I had mono and a 102/3 fever and couldn't swallow I watched like 9 hours of the civil war battle by battle cause I couldn't leave the couch. The history channel has gone way downhill in the last few years though starting around 2000 when they started running only conservative ads. Since then the programming hasn't had the same allure. PS: that dude definitely hurt so bad the next day.

the hitler channel rules until you've actually taken some history and realize that most of what they report is at least somewhat wrong.

I was pretty pumped about the History Channel when I first heard about it, then I watched it enough to realize all they show is mostly WWII crap. I wish they'd show more international stuff, from more diverse time periods, get rid of all that "Bible Code" and conspiracy theory nonsense they show, and cut it out with the obvious pandering to Right wing lunatics. I was over a friends house who had satellite TV and History International was actually pretty good, though.

most history is. even with eyewitness reports, accounts will differ. so "a people's history of the united states" and the most conservative history you can find will probably both be equally true, even if completely opposite in most places.
