Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

bike music and a stupid observation.

so i'm a fan of downloading a song here and there (before you cry "piracy!", the only albums i've downloaded in full are ones i've purchased already), and i was looking for some songs about bikes. queen is an obvious one, then there's the ghoti hook song "i like my bike" that has a pee wee herman sample at the beginning. then....ummmm....i start to draw a blank. i found an snfu song called "drunk on a bike" or something, but not much else. then there's serendipper's suggestion of mylo: "sunworshiper", but beyond that....

...what's good bike music?

also, stupid observation...the jar of peanut butter i'm eating right now says this on the back: "allergen statement: contains peanuts". no ****?

Dude!
Peanut butter ROCKS!

They even have their own fan site. 2000 uses for peanut butter!
an excerpt:

1. Plug up the nursery's electric outlets to protect little fingers.
2. Use it to stick things if you run out of duct tape.
3. Two words: eye shadow.

Bike Messenger Boy, by The Wendy Kroys
http://www.monkeybrains.net/~carrie/...ssengerboy.mp3

"come over here
bike messenger boy
i like 'em real scruffy
will you be my toy?

you got a helmet full of decals
and a big zo bag..

...

i dig your tattooed arms
and your clip-on cleats
you ride when it rains
and you ride when it sleets
i'm getting turned on baby
let's get between my sheets"

The Moldy Peaches - Nothing came out
"I just want to ride bikes with you, and stay up late, and watch cartoons"

..and there's a Cex song with the line:
"I'll drag you out your car and teach you how to pop a wheelie"

BIG EDIT:

boards of canada, right, i saw that one before, but forgot about it.

i also just remembered a band i heard about but can't recall the name of that uses contact-mic'ed bicycles to make music. plucking spokes a la triplets of belleville, i suppose.

and turd, jealous? no...that's too mild a word.

Bicycle Built For Two
(Version 1)

Written By: Unknown
Copyright Unknown

There is a flower
Within my heart,
Daisy, Daisy!
Planted one day
By a glancing dart,
Planted by Daisy Bell!
Whether she loves me
Or loves me not,
Sometimes it's hard to tell;
Yet I am longing to share the lot -
Of beautiful Daisy Bell!

Daisy, Daisy,
Give me your answer do!
I'm half crazy,
All for the love of you!
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle made for two.

We will go 'tandem'
As man and wife,
Daisy, Daisy!
'Peddling' away
Down the road of life,
I and my Daisy Bell!
When the road's dark
We can both despise
P'licemen and 'lamps' as well;
There are 'bright lights’
In the dazzling eyes
Of beautiful Daisy Bell!

Daisy, Daisy,
Give me your answer do!
I'm half crazy,
All for the love of you!
It won't be a stylish marriage,
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet upon the seat
Of a bicycle made for two.

I will stand by you
In 'wheel' or woe,
Daisy, Daisy!
You'll be the bell(e)
Which I'll ring you know!
Sweet little Daisy Bell!
You'll take the 'lead'
In each 'trip' we take,
Then if I don't do well,
I will permit you to
Use the brake,
My beautiful Daisy Bell!
