Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Got props for running a front brake

Heh, I was coming home last night, approaching an intersection behind a car.
The car had his right signal on, and looked as though he was going to run the stop sign.
I came in close behind him, as I was going to cross the street.
The car saw a pedestrian to the left and halted, mostly over the stop line.
I stopped as well, right behind the car.

The pedestrian (a guy in a trucker hat), gave me a thumbs up and said 'front brakes' as he crossed.
I had to smile and laugh.
I never really expect pedestrians to comment on my bike.

....and then you realize that you've seen your life flash before your eyes so many times that you're bored.

....and then you meet your mate and realize there's more to life than looking cool.

....and then you turn 30.

I ride the bmx for that.
The fixie gets me to work and back.

I just found it funny that average joe hipster commented on my choice to brake.

yea...no, that def is funny...that someone would comment on there ACTUALLY being a brake on you bike

the question is, though, when you stopped behind the car, did you use the brake, or your legs?

About looking cool...what's a brake have to do with looking cool? It is cool that he noticed you had a FRONT brake! Props for staying whole.

the post includes info about a sudden stop and a front brake comment, so that must mean he only used his legs
