Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I'm going to be in LA for work all next week. Yup, free after about 5pm next Mon-Sat. Please don't force me to order pizza and watch pay-per-view in my hotel room every night. I'm going to have my steamroller with me, too.

I decree that all your thread titles have to be Decemberists lyrics from now on.

Oh man... ive been wanting to comment on your username chimbley... but I didnt want to reference the decemberists and find out it has nothing to do with them. But holy crap.. I ****!ng love those guys. I drove with my girlfriend 6 horus to D.C. to see them, and it was one of the best shows ive ever been to. I then discovered they were playing in NYCa few days later and went to that one too.

This confirms my long standing suspicions. Although, to be fair, you could have just been a Dylan Thomas fan.

would you mind translating that into East-coast-ese for me?
I'm thinking it's something like:
LA is enjoyable and the races will be fun.

It's too bad you just missed BikeWinter, but I guess you can always join us for Critical Mass Los Angeles, Long Beach, or Pasadena. LA meets at the Red Line Wilshire/Western station. See ya!

yeah and check out Guelaguetza, a most excellent Oaxacan restaurant in/near K-town. If you are tempted to get the crickets, only get a snack sized portion or you'll be picking cricket legs out of your teeth for a week.

i had a blast riding around LA on a visit three years ago. there's some nice backstreet routes to get you around.
