What are you trying to say? It was a points race, and the winners/organizers don't deserve trash talking like that. Maybe you ought to organize a big ole event with 90 racers!?

Contact Dan G and or anybody at https://dccourier.com/

What!?

I'm not trash talking. However the results took forever (4+ hours) to tabulate, shifted around while they were being announced (honest mistake I'm sure), the points values for various things had/have not been layed out for the racers and the rest of the results haven't been posted. What do you want a curious person to say? I'm just asking after them one more time (I did write an email to (hopefully) Dan) before I forget about it.

Listen, I don't think I won, so don't think it's rotten eggs from me.... just making an honest observation.

But again, had a great time racing, loved the city. Thanks.

A lot of people busted their humps to pull that event together. I think the overall goal was to have fun riding bikes and raise money for a good cause. I was suprised when I saw other people on this forum trash talking (for lack of a better term) in another thread. This ain't the Tour De France, It's an alleycat kid!

PS: those pictures were taken by Carlos

I was helping out dan and the rest of the organizers deal with the results. it was kinda of while to tally up 90+ plus riders. even with 4 of us. we had to make sure we were marking **** right.. I know the bonus stuff were where that was a big thing.

it's hard to put on a race. I did rocky 3 in philly last year. I did it myself with 25 teams handing me crazy amount of ****. I know dan will post the results soon. It is sometimes take a long time for some of us to post stuff like that..

I'd also like to see the results, even though I know where I stand. It's one of those edifying kind of things. I also know that this ain't no kind of professional USCF sanctioned "start on time/go according to schedule" kind of things. We'd be lucky if we ever see results posted anywhere. As the person who posts results for every alleycat in NYC, it's not like it doesn't take any effort to do. I've NEVER been the person to have to tabulate the results, but I'm always the guy who has to get them and put them online. Sometimes, I just don't feel like doing it. But I do it because it's gotta get done sometime. Fortunately, I don't think anyone will ever hurt me badly if some results never get posted. Will they Hawkwheels? Please tell me no.

Anyway, have patience with the DC crew. Even though their scoring system TOTALLY SCREWS me and knifefight*, they're a great crew and we love their races.

* jk, everyone. Just kidding. Although the two of us will !!!OWN!!! DC next time we're there, arbitrary scores be damned!!!!!!

i can understand both sides to this. heck, i DID put on the tightest and most organized race ever, and i have raced in a few alleycats as well. so allow me to chime in:

points races are hard to tabulate, therefore, one needs to be extra attentive in getting to it. people really want to know how they did.

if one puts on a points race that takes over a week to figure the results, how did the racers feel? it must have been pretty frustrating to try to figure the points as the race went on. i just think points races should be avoided. it's just too hard on everyone.

this should not be taken as any sort of criticism. just an observation on the nature of points races.

and stop being such a *****, noumena9.

ok, that last part should be taken as criticism.

nice, msngr. five stars... I know what that means. listen. Don't confuse people wanting to know the results w/ trash talking. There are some of us that are interested to know how many points the chips were worth, though. lol.

If you are going to decide that anyone that has questions about your event is an ******* then in fact you might not be the best organizer in the world. A good way to avoid such a thing is to post the results, especially when you say that you will.

But forget it. Really. I don't enjoy points races as much... my feeling is that one should announce that a race will be points in the flyer, etc. That way *******s like me won't even show up and you won't have to thump your chests at me on bikeforums later on.

And Mesgr: your alleycat did set a high bar. That's likely my problem.

Hey Bro- I think you were a little bit off base last night with your remarks. Not intending to rake you over the coals here but..

I am coming from the organizers point of view. Over the years I have produced a lot of events and you may or may not know about the incredible amount of work that goes into it.

To pick out the faults of a volunteer run nonprofit event sucks! I need to stand up for my homies when people talk smack.

I joined bikeforums after several friends told me that people were talking about me and my crew on here.

I am a messenger and proud of it. With the rising popularity of urban cycling, more and more city bikers are turning out for street events. Maybe you've noticed how welcoming and friendly the messenger community is.

I am pumped on anyone who rides a bike. We are all in this together dog. Let me suggest that next time things don't turn out how you expect, get involved.

three things:

1.) It was a great race. Loved it. Had a good time. Not an iota of anything but cheer and everyone was real nice.

2.) I said shifty (and I shouldn't have) because the guy I raced with had an identical manifest to mine and got to the finish before me and placed after me by a margin. Big deal? No. Anyone really care? No. Did mentioning it here make people pissed? Yes. Sorry, really. Sometimes things come off too strong. Apologies.

3.) It was a great race. Loved it. Had a good time. Not an iota of anything but cheer and everyone was real nice.

And if you still think I'm an ass, I understand. Here is an embarrasing picture of me that ken put on the internet that you can look at and mock me:

Cool- No hard feelings here. I was squeaking not only at you but at anyone in general who may take this stuff for granted. Ask Ken he knows I can be a biotch for any number of reasons.
I am pumped that the crossover is happening, hope to see you at Shlitz and Giggles in Boston or MT7 in NY, that's the next two I'm gonna make.
