I don't know the Sugino stuff so well, but an old shimano 600 set would treat you well. I've got one on my old BMX bike that is gold ano with a gold 44 tooth Shimano 44t 1/8" ring. And of course I've ridden many the Shimano 600 crank on road bikes.

I'm not personally into gold ano any more (I bought a lot gold of anodized parts back in '82 though)

I got a used set of the Aero Mighty cranks almost two months ago from Keirin Culture. I bought them in part because I don't like how the 75 cranks look and I didn't want to spend that much money on something I was just going to beat up so I was looking for an older, already slightly beat up crank in 144bcd. These were in good shape and they cleaned up easily with Simply Green and a bit of polish to help get off some grim. They are on my daily bike and replaced a set of Sugino Mighty Competition cranks which I replaced soley because I discovered that my Mighty Competition cranks were 151bcd after finally replacing my chainring after a ridiculously long time. I didn't want to have to struggle to find 151bcd chainrings in the future or pay $150 or so for 151bcd Campy chainrings for my daily bike and I jumped on the Aero Mighty cranks when I saw an announcement about them being posted on the Keirin Culture website. They were listed as Suntour Aero Mighty cranks, probably because there is no Sugino logo, they are shaped somewhat more like Suntour Superbe Pro cranks, and the Aero Mighty is written like Superbe Pro is written on the crank arm. Sugino has a few different "Mighty" cranks and mechanic friends quickly questioned whether the cranks were Sugino or Suntour and I've seen a reference or two to them on other websites and Ebay.

As far as comparing them to other cranks, I'm not racing so I can't say another about stiff and compliant and the quality of the two Sugino cranks I have are pretty similar so I'm sure I would never notice the difference. Both these cranks are lighter than the 75 cranks (not really a concern to me except of how it makes me think of 75 cranks). This is based on holding 165s of each crank in my hand. The 165 Sugino 75 cranks also felt heavier than the 170 Ofmega Special Competition cranks that came on my Pinarello. The 151 bcd Campy record cranks feel a bit heavier when spun on a bike with no chain. Again, weight not an issue, just a comparison.

Aero Mighty are a nice looking and not particularly common crank and if you can get them for a reasonable price, go for it. If you don't like them, I'm sure someone here will take them off your hands.

This is SUGINO AERO MIGHTY crank (PCD 144mm)

UGINO AERO MIGHTY gear (48t)

The debut of this crank is the beginning of the 1980's.
It was a fashion in this age and a crank of aerodynamic shape.
However, SUGINO AERO MIGHTY crank was low, too soft the rigidity, and was short the production period. Afterwards, it disappeared by the appearance of the SUGINO75 series.

Ride Safe!!
