Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hey Sf/bay area, As most of you know, the North American Hand-made Bike Show will be in San Jose in march. Don Walker (the guy organizing the show), has asked that we put on a race. I am wondering if there are any bay-area people out there who are interested in helping with the race. We need checkpoint workers and a graphic designer to help with the flyer. So far there are two checkpoint workers, but we need about four more. If you're at all interested in racing, please do so, but if you absolutely know you won't race it would be cool if you could work a checkpoint. Or, if you know someone that could help, let me know.

As for prizes, Phil Wood has offered showers at the SJ athletic club for the first 30 finishers, plus, full one-hour massages for the first three finishers as well as a few pint glasses and t-shirts. Yay!

Also, if you're interested in racing, say hi.

The recommended route: http://tinyurl.com/7cmku

i propose a checkpoint at the following location should the route happen to pass near enough:

-Malibu Grand Prix (batting cage challenge? skeeball highest score? minigolf takes to long so that's out.)

You know me and my sag wagon are available to help out Judah!

Sweet, bring your crew, all of them. No bike turned away, track bikes encouraged.

A URL to the route will be on the flyer.

Oi. I'm riding this, but more just for fun, not to race. I'll lose anyway. But I will make it. I don't mind helping design the flyer.

What? Your bike isn't even here yet? I guess that will give you time to settle in.
