Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

i'll get this before you get too much snark.
people will tell you to search the forums (there's a search function), that this has been discussed in various ways a billion times. other people will just tell you to get an IRO ( www.irocycle.com, on vacation currently) because of their service, they're awesome, and because their basic wheelset is a whole lot better than the low-end components on those off-the-shelf bikes.

as for which bike? unlike the others you listed, the langster is aluminum, and steel and aluminum ride pretty differently. what do you need in a bike? the rush hour comes with brakes, which might be nice for you. the pista is a bit trackier of geometry, which might be nice for you. what else might be nice for you? you decide.

Best bet is see what your LBS's have. You either want to ride one of each, or find someone who knows how to do a fit kit. Model wise, you might also consider the Jamis Sputnik and (Soma) Pake. Also nice, although pricier, would be the Surly Steamroller and Soma Rush. If price is no object, Gunnar Street Dog or custom. Search for any of these brand or model names and you'll get zillions of threads. You will also find good info at http://fixedgeargallery.com and http://roadbikereview.com.

Going down to your LBS and checking out their stock of bikes is a good idea. If you are buying your first fixie you will want to have a shop you can count on for good advice and help with upgrades in the future.

depends... are you getting the chrome pista pictured or the 06 green one?

i think i like the green pista's (though i haven't seen one yet), i've never disliked the product other than that excessive chrome...

I saw the green in person. I think it looks realy nice, but some people would hate that color. Then again some people like Celeste.
