Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? "I open his car door, grab him by his collar and pull him toward me, then punch him twice in the mouth. Rather than assume the beating, I clip in and ride away."

Thats great more people should try this.

I wouldn't have done it that way.
Me? I would have knocked on his window, he'd roll it down probably saying something lame .. then I'd just intimidate the living **** out of him untill he started crying in front of his "significant" other. Then back hand him.. crawl across him and give his girl a sloppy ass kiss (pending she isnt a cow). He'd be scarred for life.

It's human nature. Although not the proper approach, I would've done exactly what the OP did.

Justice and the law are two separate things. The OP's wrong legally, but he did dish out some justice which is what really counts.

I still applaud your performance good sir.

i think more violence by cyclists is a good thing. people don't go starting **** with dudes on motorcycles. drivers need to fear us.

i don't know what to think. most of us abhor violence, but most of us recognize the need to fight back when attacked, and then there's the PR consideration. i dunno....

There's a big difference between fighting back and being the aggressor. When the idiot throws the bottle and leaves, he is no longer the aggressor. He is still wrong and should be punished, but by the legal system and not you when you ride up after he has driven off. If he were to get out of the car and threaten you, fight back with all means necessary, but riding up and pulling him from the car and beating him is not the answer.

Well done, if he was obviously trying to hit you with a glass bottle. Imagine when his friends ask him how his mouth got busted up... "Err, a bicyclist pulled me out of my car in the presence of my girlfriend for throwing a bottle at him..."

Still, the traditional method sound better to me: shout in the "who are you to throw bottles at people" bit through the window, then U-lock the windscreen/kick the mirror off and ride away.
