I need the front brake, but to my eye there is no setup that really looks right. Which is the lessor evil?

That's what I think I'm going with. Another option is a left side aero lever with just enough bar wrap to guide the cable--or a non-aero lever for that matter.

Then there are dummy levers...

Any 'ol cross lever works as a suitable e-brake, and the proximity to the stem shortens the cable. Tektro's the one I use.

aero levers look weird on track drops IMO. I'd go with a small CX or BMX lever right near the stem.

don't do it. angles are all wrong for road levers.

and if you angle it just right, you can't see the lever from the side. maybe you could find some colored cable housing to match your paint job.

when I had track bars I used an Oddysey bmx lever I found for 5 bucks. Didn't need any tape, and very discreet.

you like a the BMX lever, Yess? In my country, we use sheep bone for brake lever. Then when we finish, we eat the bone. You like to eat-a the bone too? Yess?

anyone know where to find a cheap crosstop/inline lever for 26mm bars? $30 for a set of cane creek is a little steep.

Get them from nashbar, almost no money will be spent.
