Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Me, and david was planing on riding over the bridge to Sausalito today in this wonderful weather...

we were just taking a break by the cafe, and then as i was turning a right going into the tunnel(bike are allowed in this short tunnel by the bridge)....

a white Chevy pickup truck turned right INTO ME!!
squashing me and my bike, i screamed at him told him to stop. i thought he heard me 'cus he stopped for a second, then he decided to gun the acceleration and force his way through..
i chased him down the street.. running with one hand pushing my bike..couldnt get close to him to get his number plate.

the result...
busted chain ring...the entire thing is just a piece of mashed up metal right now....
thankfuly, i'm alright, cept some cuts on my finger..

i reported to a high way patrol dude.. but obviously he couldnt do much because of the lack of information...
all i knew was:
White Chevy pick up truck
2 white man
possibly some mark/damage on the right side of the truck due to scrapping my crank arm and peddles.

its things like this make me cynical.

hit and run drivers are the worst. i think there's a spot in hell for them right next to bike thieves. i mean...hit someone, you have no idea how badly you've hurt them, and you don't care, you don't stop to check, for all you know, someone's crushed, dead, and you keep going, because your destination and your convenience is more important than anyone's life, health, or property. if it were, you wouldn't be driving like that in the first place. hell, you most likely wouldn't be driving.

i'm glad you're okay. and disappointed that that ******* is, too.

nah, i dont think so.
it happend in the tunnel, and i got the CHP 10 mins after the crash.
i called 911 five minutes after though.

like i said, i didnt get his number plate, and he ran, ( probably going 40 mph through that parking lot trying to get away).
