clip-on fake lugs

i had a dream last night that involved a product that you could put on your frame to make it looked lugged. they were called lugz and used the same logo as the clothing line. i've been trying to figure out how one would design such a thing. strange.

Yes, it's evil, but yes, it is a really good idea. Despite the marketing that lugs are stronger, yadda yadda yadda, most people including myself just like the looks of them better. Some faux chrome lugs would be the bee's knees. Patent it, baby.

Make your own with Sculpey and a torch!

Not many people realize this, but sculpey os fully sandable/shapeable once baked. I used a piece of it to fashion a new plastic button for a switchblade knife once. After filing it to the proper dimensions, I sanded and polished it to a high gloss. and the stuff is available in about a jillion colors! Carved Sculpey lugs man those would be the cats ass!

except the first time you wreck on your bike, you can say goodbye to those lugs. Although it says shatter resistant on the package, that stuff will break and it will shatter the first time one of those lugs hits a street sign too hard when you're locking up.

Just make sure to design them to look real. Or at least better than this example in poseur gear for the gearhead... the stick on hood pins!!!!

Yeah, but there's another whole world (ebay) that would care.

I don't, but I do think it's a funny joke. In reality fake lugs would look awful. they would have a seam, probably be made of plastic, and would have to come in a zillion different sizes, and STILL probably wouldn't fit your frame.

So no I don't think there is a real market for these, but I do think it would be funny as hell if somebody made some. I'm actually surprised though that someone isn't selling NJS stamps on ebay for $29.95 every day of the week.

Meh, I might use one of these if I end up using a lugged fork.

Schwinn Varsities (and possibly others) have fake chrome fork crowns - they slide on between the real crown and bearing race - those would be pretty easy to manufacture. the variable would be fork blade size and shape.

Engraving NJS logo on bikes ... I've got a dremel ... I could be an über-hipster in five minutes ...

My apologies to everyone with real track bikes. My conversion feels left out.
