anyone know where to get good bike-friendly maps of manhattan and brooklyn?

i badly need to pick one up for saturday. preferably like somewhere in NYC or Boston where I could walk into a place and buy one, or somewhere online I can download one for free?

If you do a search this has been covered extensively. The short of it: either check out https://www.transalt.org or go to just about any bike shop in NYC. The map is free and even has suggested streets to use and streets to avoid, bike paths/lanes, etc.

Look for the small laminated street maps made by Street Wise. They look like this...

You can find them in most card shops and are worth every damn penny.
