Pick-up pins on shifting chainrings? (Sugino XD300)

So I decided not to get the Sugino RD b/c people say they're flexy. How about these Sugino XD300's?

I heard they're stiffer. And they happen to be cheaper too.

But, do those "pin/ramps to facilitate shifting" get in the way of fixed gear use?

Also, I can take off the smaller two chainrings w/ no problems and it will work/look fine, right?

Thanks!

yes. if your chainline isn't 100% perfect, or you hit a bump, those ramps will shift your chain right off.
in addition, the teeth of those chainrings are much shorter than a dedicated ss ring.
It's worth shelling out the $6 for a rocket ring.

where can you find a rocket ring for $6? I'd like to know
