Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

for food delivery, my understanding is this (i have never done food delivery, just spoken about it with food deliverers)

mama's is the only, or one of the only, manhattan place that hires "messengers"

mostly food delivery messengers work in williamsburg

I used to laugh at those guys(as did a lot of messengers when they started using messengers) until I saw the kind of money they made, and ate a bunch of the free food they got...

There are quite a few other places in manhattan with hip white people on fixed gears delivering food, but mamas was pretty much the first.

See, that ***** is alright! I don't think I got even one vegan pancake in all the years I spent doing messenger work. And I'm far from vegan, but still...

if you want to be a food deliverer in nyc i think you need an early 90's univega mountain bike with a basket and plastic pedals and wear a red windbreaker. seems standard. man what ever happen to kozmo?
