Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Allow me to make a Mitch Hedburg-ism " I used to smoke. I still do, but I used to too!"

Everytime I hear "How can you smoke and ride?" question, or variation.. I just answer with "I kill them as I build them".

At lunch some lady was hacking up in the middle of eating. Spitting up in her napkins. Yeah its time to quit. Sure I might not have smoked as much as she did. I sure don't want to grow old and be like that. Getting a six pack of beer and some patches in about 10 minutes.

M-F i smoke a cigarette when i get home from work, and then one before i go to bed. It's pretty irregular on the weekend. I tend to smoke like a chimney when I'm out drinking with other smokers, or when i'm extrordinarily stressed out. That said, I don't try to feel good when I don't smoke much and conversly I don't feel bad when I smoke a lot. It's an indulgence that's not good for me. That said, most have less than healthy indulgences so I don't make apologies for it and I don't take **** from anybody about it. You want to play holier than thou with me, you're going to end up in a gutter.
