anyone know anything about this producer of track bikes? I recently won an auction off of ebay. I mean I got it for 70$US (it's from australia) so I figure that if it really is terrible I can re-sell it on CL or at a bikeswap. All I know is that it was produced by an Australian manufacturer in the early 40s by a company called Mastersports. No measurements given really other than the general size of 57.

If it isn't so great, I'm sure I got a track frame at a good price, considering it's origin. I can compile a beater for under 300$ total including the frame.
googling provides no info. And I'm kinda scared of how it will ride and what the dimensions will feel like. It's like a blind date!

Dude, you're brave. That's one of them funky old "path racer" type bikes. Heavy, flexy, and slack. Also, very, very cool.
There were a TON of small builders in Australia in the old-timey days. I'd guess that this is one of them. Keep your fingers crossed.

Make sure you pay inside of ebay's system to protect yourself in case something fishy happens. He requests a bank deposit and I'd be leery of that.

Despite a 2.5% paypal fee, I chose to Paypal it and I've got a transaction receipt. The shipping itself was 100$ airmailing.
I figure if people buy and build up frames as sketchy as Spicers and Tsunamis (in terms of the frames themselves and the shrowd of doubt that they hold) then I'm not the most foolish guy around.

Asking the 2.5% fee is actually against eBays TOS.. Just FYI, I used to do that and then they started cancelling my auctions.

TOS is probably really long. Do you have any idea where this is stated.
edit, I found this. I'm confused if this user is or is not violating TOS but I assume the Australian Ebay MAY allow it. "Some types of payment surcharges are permitted on some of eBay's international sites"

for 70 bucks, i'd say it's a good deal, specifically because of the track ends. you can get a lot of frames for 70 bucks, but very few (i'm thinking) will have track ends. you'll have a lot easier time of building up your bike this way. if it isn't the best thing since sliced bread/chris king headsets (so i'm told), oh well. 70 bucks. not an awful deal.

Do you really want to fight the seller over 5 bucks? Not worth it really. I was just throwing that info out as something anyone who sells stuff on ebay should know. Chances are if you do that you wont get caught (and i think its actually 2.9 percent, but whatever). FWIW Part of my job entails me managing around 50 auctions a week, and they''ve only stopped about 3 auctions. I've since just realized its better to eat the 3 percent than deal with the hassle, as paypal whoops ass compared to any other payment system. I hate dealing with checks almost as much as international shipping.

i found that i can minimize the fees if you have one personal account and one premiere/business account. since i only need to use the premiere/business one for occasions when people are paying via credit card and crap like that.
