Anyway I dont think I mentioned that I'm jealous. maybe I did but it still stands. I recently saw an ad on Craigslist Austin about a mechanic selling his tools for 1,300$ claming it was enough to start up a shop. The tools + your basement = never leaving the house.

Nicely done. Next on the list: Bench Vise. Trust me. You'll love it.

Bikes: Lots. Mostly steel. Mostly heavy. Mostly geared, and very low, at that.

Basements are great.
Your shop area looks really organized. I REALLY need to get our basement cleaned up like that. We've been talking about a toolboard and workbench since we bought the building over a year ago, but there's still too much construction crap laying around, not to mention the stuff that people haven't moved into their units yet. Once we get it done, it's gonna be dope. In the mean time, even with all the room we have, it's kinda cramped.

Nice setup. I have one suggestion for the future. Replace some of those incandescent fixtures with a few fluorescent fixtures, the fluorescent bulbs you can get now will make it really bright. Also, I'd be nervous hitting the bulbs with a frame or something while moving around.

The guy who lives above me used to own the building.
The other side of the basement he has his own workshop.
At some point during his tenure of owning the building, he installed probably over 75 lightbulbs in the basement, one every 2-3 feet in an insane grid.
It is mother f'ing bright down there.

Is hanging "better" for the wheel?

You guys have some seriously cramped accomodations if that workspace is large to you. I'm sitting in a friend's house in Pittsburgh right now which is positively huge. Two people live here and rent is less than 300 bucks a month. There's a large basement to go with the spacious three floors. Pittsburgh rules on so many counts.

really great looking space. of course any space that's twice the size of my apartment that's dedicated to something other than sleeping and eating looks really great to me.

here's mine i just moved last weekend so its all nice and clean
by coincidence i also live in milwaukee. although this is only half of my workspace, the other half containing all of the heavy tools Eg. tig welder, torch setup, bench grinders, air tools and the like are in a more suitable workspace (cant be using a tig welder inside my apartment) that i dont have any good pictures of.
BTW i love milwaukee, big city vibe but no horrible traffic and rents arent all that bad for what you get
where else can you get 1400SqFt. on the top floor with floor to ceiling windows for $1400 a month.
