Fixed wheel conversion
I've converted an old road bike to a fixed gear using a 700CC track wheel. The front wheel is the old 27 inch. Should I change that to 700CC as well?

not a big deal, if you think about it it makes your geometry more relaxed (if that's your thing)

Its ridable but I think it'll look funky. Might as well just go ahead(if you've got the available funds) and transfer over to 700c. You could also buy a 27" fixed rear from Sheldon Browns website (google) or your LBS. I see minor problems with two different size wheels like poping the front tire and only having a 700c tube around.

700c and 27" tubes are interchangeable.

dude, front wheels in 700c should be cheap. a bike co-op around here sells them new for 35 bucks, for the cheap ones. look around, you should be able to find one pretty damn cheap. if you're not looking for any special rim or hub, just something that rolls.

The larger wheel will likely give slightly better braking and the slight change in geometry will be to increase comfort if anything.
