we won't have bikes, although i'd be into renting something if that's possible.

i def wanna hit yerba buena, do some hiking along the cost or something, check out freewheel... i'm going to two hardcore shows on the 22nd and 23rd with mike kirsh and jose palofox's new band! oh, i think we're gonna try to tour the anchor steam brewery too.

Sounds fun. I bet theres someone in this forum you can lend you a bike, what size do you ride? Check the MoMA as well. Yerba Buena's building is bad ass, but the collection at the MoMA is more interesting in my opinion. fecalface.com has a lot of gallery listings and events. I'm gonna see An Albatross, Kid 606, and The Mall tonight, gonna be fun. Hope it doesnt rain. Lemme know when you go to freewheel, I live right around the corner from it. Btw, where are the hardcore shows, I'd be into that, I know my roommate would be as well.

IMHO, anchor is a waste of time. They're about as nasty and corporate as 'microbrew' can get. Much better to take the ferry to Larkspur to check out Marin Brewing Company (cool folks, AMAZING beer.) Angel island will be nice since there's been so much rain, and you can always waste days in the park if you've nothing better to do. Where are y'all staying?

As far as bike rental, Blazing Saddles is the main outfit in town https://www.blazingsaddles.com but they're a waste of time and money ($28/day for a hybrid, $48/day road). If you can make it to Berkeley I could likely hook y'all up with decent riders (though probably not fixed) for free.

onetwentyeight - the shows are at gilman street and some anarchist info shop. i've been told the gilman st show will be with a buncha youth crew mosh bands and the info shop show will involve a buncha old cross dressing hippies with flutes and bagpipes. should be interesting! Baader Brains is the name of the band i'm going to see and they are awesome.

r-dub - thanks for the brewery tip. we'll have to check that out! plus i can't pass up good garlic fries. we're stayin with some friends but i'm not sure the name of the area. thanks for the bike offer too. i'll letcha know what's up when it's closer to trip time.

Herbivore (one on valencia, one on fillmore) are good cheap vegan restaurants. I highly recommend their bruschetta. There is also Greens in Ft Mason.

Here is a list of places to eat

Evan,

GOLDEN ERA!!! Mock meat chinese - you will not be disappointed (Golden Lotus in Oakland is just as good). Also, if anyone recommends a burrito place other than Tacqueria Cancun they are full of it.

Have fun!

If you're feeling less exotic, there's a place in Hayes Valley called Flippers that has a pretty decent selection of "gourmet" veggie burgers. It's price-y (ish), but the plate of food is immense... $9-12 for a burger, fries and salad. Herbivore is really good. If you're feeling rich, Millenium is reputed to be the best vegetarian restaurant in the country. I've never been...

golden era is another worthy stop for vegan eats.
flippers - you may or may not have an interesting experience there depending on how kirby is feeling.

Dear Evan,
Please do us ALL a favor and take a picture of that Nitto frame. You must have a camera with you on your vacation. Thanks in advance.
Love,

If the weather is nice, there's a big patio area, which is nice. As a bonus, you can also play the "hey-I-saw-that-bike-on-bikeforums/FGG/freewheel hayes website" game out front.

Massawa on Haight is great if you're feeling Eritrean/Ethiopian.

2 recs:

Minako for sushi--world's best vegetarian eel. It's awesome, and the woman who runs it is super nice. Not open tonight (Monday), but every other day of the week.

Papalote (24th @San Jose) and El Metate (Bryant @22nd) for burritos that are far, far above Cancun's. Trust me--I've been eating good Mexican food for 20 some-odd years now, not 3 or 4 or 8 like all the immigrants (emigrants) from out of state .

alright, we're off to golden era. thanks for the recommendations. keep em coming! i think we're gonna do minako tomorrow.
