Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Don't know what it stands for, but it's a Japanese company. A lot of dumpstered 80's Japanese roadbikes have the components.

Sakae Ringyo. A friend has one. Seems like a nice frame for the money he paid for it.

I think SR now owns the SunTour name, but that's it. I think I read that all of the tooling for those badass hubs was scrapped when Suntour closed up shop.

Suntour Superbe hubs were made for Suntour by Sanshin. Sanshin's tooling was sold to Suzue and became the basis for the Promax hubs. That's why they all look basically the same, +/- disco.

Rode one for 22 years

I rode an SR Maxima for 22 years. It was the top of the line SR bike in 1984. It came with SunTour Superbe components. I finally retired it this year. I got a new Cannondale 613 with campy record components and campy zonda wheels. WOW what a difference. To read the history of SunTour go to:
