DA Hub, Soma cog?

I want to switch my gearing a little.
It's a Dura Ace hub with a Suntour cog.
I want to put on a Soma cog but don't want to mess up the threads on the hub.

I know switching between certain cogs can damage the threads of a hub.

Tell me true: Will i damage my DA hub by swithching back and forth between a Suntour
and Soma cog? (i'll also have an occasional DA cog on there as well)

fyi- i already tried to search it and didn't come up with an answer.

thanks

Just make sure you get them on there TIGHT so you don't strip the hub threads while riding, because that will ruin the hub.

I wouldent put a Soma cog on a DA hub, they are poorly made and I've noticed the difference between how smoothly a DA cog goes on a hub rather than a Soma cog. Get a Euro Asia cog they have a wide range of sizes

the score is even. 1 for using the soma cog and 1 against.

i'm not worried about not getting the cog on tight enough.
i'm just wondering about the thread compatibilty.

IIRR, the Suntour cog is probably more of an issue than anything else... It's not the same thread pitch as the DA.

I could be wrong, though.

+1. I have no good hearsay about Soma cogs. EAI or D-A for the sure bet.

I'm with Aeroplane. Stick with EAI or Dura Ace or the new version of the Surly. I also have not heard much good stuff about Soma cogs.

I also have had bad things happen to me with a Soma cog. I think its something about the threads being offset. It didnt ruin my hub but after that I just spent the extra few dollars and went with DA.
