One time I saw Bill Gates go off on a Linux dude on Slashdot. It's totally common practice to respond to critical forum posts.

I still am curious about specifically what brand the sweatshirts are since KingKog made no attempt to refute that original charge.

awww... man. Why did King Kog have to do this? I was going
to go get some double straps from them this next week. Guess
I'll go elsewhere.

Windows was probably in a stronger market position than King Kog sweatshirts, but I see your point. Call me when 99% of the world's companies use King Kog sweatshirts.

Stronger market position makes it easier to pull off. At least Gates could say "Hey F-off, what are you going to do?"
At least we can go use new sweatshirts.
Edit: I was being sarcastic, I never saw Gates do this.

It is up to the vendor/manufacturer to manage said customer and correct the wrong (regardless whether the manufacturer disagrees with viewpoint of his customer or the way the viewpoint was expressed).
The defensive and confrontational manner in which KK has retorted and managed his customer is sadly laughable.
In the end, sure it was unprofessional, but you know any other person representing their company in a similar situation would be thinking the same thing, just not saying it hopefully. I definetely see both sides haha.

nerd alert! nerd alert!
For the most part people here like the attitude espoused by trackstar online and readily toss your dollars in thier direction. A vendor that is a big supporter of fg/ss racing, cops the same on the forums and you guys are pissing up and down about how you aren't going to buy a hoodie anymore. Get over your own dandy asses.
King Kog is pretty much universally considered as a cool store with cool people. Their merchandise, for most people, is pretty cool too. Jason, as a person, merchant, and advocate of fixed racing is badass. Just because real people have a real reaction to a really stupid event is no excuse to hold a vendor to a double standard.

im supporting him because the guy posting on here originally acted inapropriatly in the first place. he was talking **** behind someones back instead of trying to work out the problem directly. i dont see why that kind of behavior shouldnt be greated with anything but what jason is doing.

It's easy to be cool by being negative, especially if you're anonymous. 4916 has done a lot for the cycling community and culture here and their clothes are top notch. I hope NYC will back them up. It's really frustrating to see someone on the other side of the country write a post like the one from a few days go. I hope freebird is not as judgemental in real life, and I think people should be called out for such a lack of honor. The rest of y'all should chill too. I hope mrs freebird enjoys the hoodie, which i've seen, and know to be sweet.

Again, I have to point to John Velocity for the correct way to handle just such an episode.
"John Black here, president of Velocity USA. I am glad to hear you are healing up well. I would like the opportunity to clear up a couple of things. First of all, if you or anybody out there reading this has a problem or concern with Velocity, please contact me. My email address is john@velocityusa.com or you can call me by dialing 800 453 6126. If you are out of the contiguous US then you'll need to dial 616 243 3400. I am not sure what good it does to spew inacurate statements across the web. If I have a problem with some one's product, I go straight to the source for a remedy, I don't mess with their livelyhood by spreading negative incorrect statements around the world.
Our customer policy is 100% customer satisfaction. In fact, we have never turned down or even argued a warranty claim. Yes, we do get taken advantage at times because of this policy, but most people are honest and have realistic expectations of the product. I would bet big money that a car door will win over a 450 gram rim any day. As for the cracking around the spoke holes, it could have been laced too tight, it could have been subjected to bad roads too often, or there is a possibility that it is a bad rim, but the problem you describe indicates that it is either a classic case of improper spoke tension or rough riding. So even though I'm scolding you, I really do want to keep you as a satisfied Velocity customer. If you send me your hubs that came off your crashed wheels, we'll lace them in to a couple of Aeroheads with precision, love and pride. All at no cost to you. If you stay off the sewer grates and out of the way of car doors, they should perform well for many thousands of miles. Looking forward to your reply.
John"
Now, that's tact and good business sense.
He didn't alienate potential customers just to ***** slap one dissastisfied one.

I will comment the same as I did in the other thread.
The ****ed up thing is a thread praising their clothing was sent to spam land. It crossed the line of "our bike culture is not for sale" or something. But **** like this will stay and be linked via the google giant. I don't really want to take a side, other than to say...you are all being ****ing lame.

seems like apples and oranges. in the real world, working with someone you (hopefully) respect, I would take the same approach when discussing something as valued as ideas. but freebird acted with no respect. jason could have bsed and given him some respect he didn't deserve. or he could do what he did. there's touchy-feely superficial corporate stuff, or you can have it like it is. maybe we should just buy clothes that come with a marketing department.

Hey, I'm ready to join the flame war.
So you weren't happy. Posting on online forum is pretty much permanent so if you're talking smack it will come back to you, and Jason, unfortunately. And yes i agree with Jason "If you were any kind of real person you would've contacted him as soon as you had a problem"
Instead of:
-grossly over stating the price in the first place - it was $35, and i'm sure you knew about the handling charge so don't get up on whining about it after the fact.
-working something out, before assuming because your girl wore it to the dump he wouldn't budge on his quality control. Which i'm sure he'd be happy to do because he/his crew screen all the shirts by hand.
the slander on this forum is like negative feedback on the bay. he has no recourse. plus this is his full-time gig, the brand & his shop.
-so IMHO posting your commnets without contacting him first and assuming IS being a jackass.
which brings the second point.
the reason people are sticking up for Jason. because he's been a supporter of the messenger community for a shti ton of time. Organising and sponsoring alleycats, screening shirts for events, and basically pouring his freaking soul into supporting the community over the last few years.
Btiching about it on a forum, from an anonymous username is with nothing to lose, is completely different situation from his side, which will ultimately affect his business, reputation and his projects.
