Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Beat to the punch.

This + the fitty dolla Campy 1" threadless headset in the For Sale forum + old steel frame = wonderous heresy.

Cinelli Grammo Pista

I bought a quill titanium pista version of these recently from eBay (ital-tecno). You can try calling them at www.ital-tecno.com. A lot of the stuff they have is not listed on their website. The stem doesn't have the finish that I would have expected. There is a crappy rubber stopper which inserts into the top of the stem to cover the top of quill bolt. The Ti weld beads certainly aren't as beautiful as the weld lines on my Merlin. The only distinguishing mark indicating that it is a Cinelli is a crappy black sticker on the front of the stem. Functionally the stem is fine. It just doesn't have the aesthetic finish that I would expect from Cinelli!

Bikes: highly modified specialized crossroads and GT hybrid (really a [formerly] 12-speed bmx cruiser, made before 'hybrid' took on its current meaning), as yet unmodified redline 925, couple of other projects

even though Cinelli is best known for fancy racing parts, they've always made a wide range. I used to have a giant black steel mtb cinelli stem, the "super heavy duty" model, giant ugly sticker on the side w/ a list of how many kN of force it could take in different directions....

anyway, it broke.
