Bagaboo order?
I am scheming to order a bag from Tamas at Bagaboo, but the shipping cost is quite high. He pointed out that it is possible to get two bags in the same box for the same price, effectively making the cost bearable (25 USD each). Anyone interested or already planning to order a bag?

what size bag did you order? i'm ordering a large and the shipping is like $39 airmail, but if it was any heavier it would be considerably more expensive.
|
Therein lies the problem, I want to order a large with a laptop pocket, pushing it over 2 kg. He quoted $50 for the slow boat and $85 for airmail.
|
what the turnaround time for a basic bag? for custom flap?

I was in touch with Tamas for a while about getting a large messenger with laptop pocket, and he said that it is just over the weight limit for cheap shipping, but by sending the shoulder pad separately, he could still get it to be reasonably economical. I ended up not ordering from him because Moneybookers (the money transfer service that he uses) won't allow credit card transfers greater than $60 or so, meaning the only feasible option was a wire transfer, which is exorbitantly expensive for the amount of money that the bag costs. I also asked about sending an international money order, and he said that would be alright, so that just might be the best option. For turnaround, he quoted me 2 weeks to make the bag, and then shipping depends on how you choose to have it delivered.

This is just a suggestion, I haven't brought up the idea with Mo or Tamas, but perhaps if Mo stocked Bagaboo, being in Berlin they might be easier for him to get? Mo likes to have lotsa kool bags, he may even already stock them, but it'd certainly be easier to get from Berlin than from Hungary, specially since Mo is all set up for customers from elsewhere with his online stuff.
Then again there may be some duty or tax complication tween Germany & Hungary, even so, it would only drive up the price of the bag, the actual shipping, form of payment questions would all be solved. The prices are already good, covering the overhead for Mo would only be fair, and it'd be up to Tamas to make it worth Mo's while. Certainly he like happy customers, and anyone visiting his shop in person or online could be repeat business with all the cool stuff he gets. |
i wondering cause i'm going to be in europe in sept, and i wanted to know if i could order it slightly before i left and have him ship to someone i'm staying with. i assume it would be slightly easier to pay in europe. still no paypal though. maybe i'll drop him a line.

i just ordered two bags had no problem sending $262 using moneybookers.

These bags are solid and Tamas is a really cool and helpful guy who will make sure the bag is just how you want it. I bought one about a year ago and had no problem transferring £70 (about $120) with Money bookers. It would be slightly easier if paypal worked in Hungary, but opening a Moneybookers account is really easy.

Edit: did some research and I don't know what's up. We can pay with paypal since last autumn, but back then no money could be sent to Hungarian paypal accounts. Too lazy to find out whether that has changed since then. Edit2: the paypal countries list at https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...ntries-outside tells me it hasn't. Sorry. |
technically this might be considered self-promotion, but hey...
one less car clothing just bought a bag from bagaboo to auction off. the proceeds are going to help the bike shop owner that got beaten and robbed last month. sure, we're gonna be later than most on this, but we want to help. the bag we ordered was a large, not the XL, and it should be here within the week. we'll be raffling off tickets for five bucks a piece, so check out the website for details. this way all of you who are bummed on the shipping can avoid it by pitching in five bucks to help a brother out. and just to anti-self-promote: don't even think about looking at anything else on the website. ever! |
It'd be so funny if I got in on the raffle and won... You'd have to ship it back 4000 miles to where it was made:)
|
for you i would. i would just put "return to shipper "on it.

Put a link to your raffle in your sig when it goes on, I'd like to check it out. I see charity stuff in lots of sigs so that's okay I think. |
