Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Poll: Do you shave your legs?

EDIT.... perhaps I should have just asked if you keep your legs shorn - since some people choose to go the ultra-pansy route and wax

Regarding the leg-shaving phenomenom mentioned in a recent thread... did you take the plunge? Ever lost a potential date because of it? Ever got your ass kicked because of it? Do you wear panty hose and prance around feeling sexy? Take the poll, tell your pansy leg-shaving stories. pansys.

I shave my legs.

Get the **** out of here. I'd smack my kid on the head if he started shaving his legs--When did men stop being men? BMX already wears girls pants--Isn't that enough to make up for it?

I make up for shaving my legs by chopping down trees, driving a truck, smoking marlboro reds, drinking the hard stuff, beating my wife, cursing a lot, and scratching my balls all the time...

</end sarcasm>

"when did men stop being men" .... pshhhhh!

Shaving my legs makes my beard look fuller. Come on, what is more manly than a full, thick beard?

I like my leg hair. Plus, the manly thing about hairy legs isn't the fact that they are hairy, its that your not so vain as to shave something completely unneccesary, for no real aerodynamic benefit.

If you want to body-modify to make yourself go faster, be like lance and lose a nut.

The only time I ever wish for shaved legs is when band-aids don't stick to that ****. But going with that logic I would shave my arms, and even my face more often.

Ride everyday for four to five hours and you'll start to wish that manly leg hair of yours was gone... do you really think EVERY rider in the pro-peleton shaves their legs for vanity purposes? Seriously. Thats like saying that the black paint under a wide-receivers eyes is just for looks - until you yourself have to try and catch a ball 80 yards out with 10,000,000 watts of stadium lights reflecting off your cheeks.
I started shaving as a mountain biker. I would get some sort of nasty abrasion on my legs at least once a month, and each would require a months worth of dressing and tending to. Hairy-ass legs like mine tended to discourage the healing of such wounds, and pulling bandages off of them everynight was a nightmare. I continued to shave as I got into road because it was more comfortable to ride all day in the heat with shorn legs. hair is hot, it insulates. Shaving has no real aerodynamic benefit, true... but ask most any rider why they shave their legs and chances are they won't tell you "aerodynamics... duh!" and if they do, then they probably do it just to be "vain" as you so eloquently put it.

Yeah, I shave. I race multisport, and that life is just more comfy with no hair. The true test of manliness is if you can be macho without leg hair. And yes, I can.

I used to shave my legs when I raced. Now I don't see much reason. Also, I seem to remember people saying that one of the main reasons for shaving was that it cut down the risk of infection when you crashed and got scraped up legs. They might have just been trying to justify their shaving to others though... hmm

I haven't shaved my legs since I stopped swimming. That being said, it usually sucked because swim season was during winter.

i don't shave, but i still don't see the point to my body hair.
i don't feel more manly from it, and my facial hair can't really
form anything that would be defined as a beard, so wtf...

I don't shave because I'm lazy. I'm sure it feels great to have the wind over your bare skin, but I can only be bothered to shave my face once every two days, and I work in an office.

I also mtb a lot, and have scrapes and cuts all over my legs all the time. I don't think having no hair would make them heal any faster.

I shave. I crash a lot when I ride the trails. Also, shaving my legs looks better than running around with those weird bald patches I get from wearing jeans.
