Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Mixing half-link and chain brands

So....I have an HKK Vertex chain, but the length really needs to be 1/2 a link different from what it currently is. Is there any good reason why I couldn't use an Izumi half link? As far as I can tell, there is no HKK half link available. Thoughts?

i have the same chain! but in my experience when a chain is a little too long i wait for it to get broken in, and after a few weeks you just take away the whole link. i have never used a half link, but every time i mention them to a mechanic, they start dissin' on them without any explanation. as far as brands go, if you really want to do it, i doubt there would be a problem. if there is, just take it off...
