Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

oh that's awesome, my original message got lost in the server changeover thing.. so here's a summary:

- i'm flying home to cali and will be able to make it down for the mother's day race. yay! assuming i bring my bike
- who's going to be there??
- what gear ratio you people run in LA? (i'm comfortable at 49x17 here in boston)
- who wants to let me follow their wheel, because i'd rather spend my time racing that stopping to look at my map (=

Yes the race is on. It's part of a weekend of festivites of MTT4 (more than transportation).

and

Definitley a fun weekend of biking in LA. Too bad I'm up north doing a 24 hour race instead.

49x19?
me too

btw---i hope the best from the city of angels will join me in this years "midnight madness" fun ride. it's an annual event down here going on some 30 plus years. last year was a blast. though i reckon there were maybe 3 of us fg riders out of some 3 thousand cyclist. the party begins at 8pm and the ride starts at midnight. i took advantage of the finish lines proximity to downtown san diego's metro clubs and pubs. cool down laps weaving through yellow cabs and dui candidates punctuated the event for me.

there's more than enough bike paths (and pc101) along the pacific to make a full day of it; since the event is only 20 miles.
