Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

If you get a chance you should read: https://www.bikechina.com/ct-heinzstucke1z.html

It's quite an amazing story. Although I was under the impression that he had retired that bike and was riding a folder:

It's pretty amazing to read about his travels and think about how much the world has changed as he has ridden through it. Casual stuff he drops about how he visited Jerusalem when it was part of Jordon, or how he talks about ethiopia and somalia changing between visits really drives that fact home. Pretty amazing.
